Our Lower School, encompassing Year 1 and Year 2, is a hub of purposeful activity.
During their time in the Lower School, every child secures the skills to become a confident and independent learner, ready for life in further up the school. From Year 1, we encourage the pupils to organise and to think for themselves, and this is supported through the use of resources and prompts. As they move through the Lower School, we guide the children in their transitions between year groups, ensuring that by the time they leave the Lower School, they feel part of a thriving school community in which their individuality is cherished.
Pupils are taught by a class teacher and lessons take place through a collaboration of whole class learning and small group work. We focus on the varying needs of individual children, ensuring that all children are appropriately challenged and supported to achieve their very best.
We teach the core subjects of English, Mathematics and Science, as well as the Humanities and the Arts. Music, Physical Education, Spanish and Drama are taught by specialist teachers.
Our busy year encompasses highlights such as school trips, Design and Technology Days, the Lower School Play, European Languages Day, the Easter Bonnet parade and Sports Day.
