Cambodia Day At FSG

The 10th March was all about Cambodia, the country where our Charity school Hang Svart is located.

The day started with us all showing off our beautiful outfits in the colours of the Cambodian flag (red, white and blue). We then had an extraordinary assembly with two visitors. Anthony from United World Schools gave us an update on Hang Svart and shared with us some new photographs of the children there and the school. We are so proud of what our fundraising has achieved!

Our second visitor was very special; a Buddhist Monk from Wimbledon Temple. Rewat, the Monk told us all about the three main principles of Buddhism; ‘Be Good, Don’t Be Bad’ and to ‘Clean Our Mind’. We heard some beautiful chimes and even had a go at meditating which was very relaxing. Some girls had the opportunity to speak with Rewat and ask him some really interesting questions. They found out all about his clothing and why he decided to be a Monk.

The fun didn’t end there! Chef Sharon cooked up an Asian treat of ‘Celebration Curry’ and traditional street food- we even had the option of using chop sticks!

Cambodia is definitely in our thoughts and we are going to continue with our amazing fundraising work for this worthwhile charity.
